About The Blog
I'm Albert Cardwell and would like to welcome you to my Cruisers' Blog website. The site was created to share information about auto events, classic automobiles, street rods, pickup trucks, bicycles, pedal cars and anything else that has wheels. I hope you enjoy the blog and please share the site with your friends to help us spread the word.
Besides my wife and my family I have had 4 things that I have loved all my life; photography, old cars, the beach and music. Unfortunately I can't sing a note or can hardly play a musical instrument but love listening to people that can. These days, I rarely get to go to the beach and I no longer work on old cars. I've been doing photography for over 45 years and have photographed 1000's of cars during that time. I hope to share some of those beautiful and unique vehicles on the blog.

My love of automobiles goes back to an early age of about six years old. My dad worked at a local Ford dealership most of his adult life and I hung around the place a lot growing up. I never will forget when the Mustangs were introduced and my dad got me and my brother mustang pedal cars and I was hooked. As I got older I built a lot of model cars and continued doing that until my late 30's. I have always loved the classic cars. The round fenders, curves and the lines to me were a piece of art created by master craftsmen, not just something created by computers on an assembly line.

My first restoration project was a 1960 Ford F100 with a step-side bed. I got this from my Grandfather when I was 15 years old. He had used it as a farm truck and had spent a lot of time driving through fields and carrying fertilizer. I did have to replace the bed due to the extreme amount of rust. I spent the whole summer hand sanding the truck with wet and dry sand paper just getting it ready to paint.. The truck had about 42,000 miles when I got it. I held on to the truck for about 30 years until I gave it to my brother to pass down to his kids and grandkids. It was in a desperate need of another restoration but only had about 48,000 original miles when I gave it to him. Hopefully it will be back on the road again one day.
My second and last restoration project was a 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible with a 289 engine. I purchased the car when I was 21. My grandfather that owned the truck above was in the hospital in 1982 and we were going to Baptist Hospital every other day. I found this one advertised for sale near the hospital. After looking at it, I drove it home that night. The restoration process was used as my stress relief from my regular job. I worked on it about every day after coming home from work. Unfortunately I sold this about 15 years ago and I still miss it, but it was time to let her go. Maybe one day I will own another one.
The 1960 Ford pickup was my first restoration project at the age of 15. These are before and after photos.
